Industry Youth! – Zagreb Film Festival's new educational program – starts tomorrow, Monday, 15 October at 5p.m., with the Masterclass of the acclaimed director of photography Peter Suschitzky. The Masterclass will take place at the Academy of Dramatic Art.
The students of the Academy will have an opportunity to learn from Suschitzky everything they want to know about film photography. Peter Suschitzky has so far worked on as many as 50 feature-length fiction films, with directors like Ken Russell, Tim Burton, John Boorman and David Cronenberg. Last year, Suschitzky was a member of Zagreb Film Festival feature-length and short film juries.
Some of the best known films he worked on include Star Wars – Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and later films of David Cronenberg. In 2008, his work on Eastern Promises won him Genie Award for Best Photography. Suschitzky is generally considered as one of the best directors of photography in the world. He is acclaimed for his almost 'sculpted' lighting, brilliant coordination of colors and subtle camera work.
Zagreb Film Festival treats you with two more Masterclasses: one by Niels Pagh Andersen, a Danish editor who has edited more than 250 films of various sorts and genres since 1979, and the other Michael Glawogger, one of the most interesting documentary film directors of today.
In addition to the above, our Industry Youth! program includes four workshops: My First Script, Microschool International, Screenwriters' Workshop Palunko 10 and Bib for Kids Filmmaking Workshop.
